It took more than a year for Firefox to become my default browser. Read: Why FireFox is not my default browser? and Firefox is my default browser now!
The main reason I went to Firefox was because it was “light-weight” and had a lot of useful extensions. The two things kind of contradicted each other. With all the extension Firefox does not seem to be light weight anymore. But once you get into using extensions it is kind of an addiction there is no way out…
Anyway when Google Chrome came out I was amazed by its speed. Not the speed of rendering but the speed at which it starts. It is truly a lightweight browser. But it lacked extensions I could not live without (damn the addiction) and crashed a lot in Vista. It worked well in XP but in Vista it would always crash when trying to drag the tabs around.
The latest dev release (0.3.154.6) seems to fix the bug.
r3710 Fixes a crash while dragging tabs on Windows Vista with pen input or tablet services.
For me this is the tipping point for me. Now Chrome is my default browser. Once in a while I do open up Firefox/IE for sites that don’t render well in Chrome. But that are very few such sites.
One major thing issue with Chrome is that I am seeing ads now!!! Well there are a few ways to fix this:
Well looks like Chrome is my default browser till the next big thing comes along.
