10 Point Program for Improvement of Bangalore City Traffic

05 Jun

The new Chief Minister of Karnataka, Mr. H. D. Kumaraswamy, has some interesting plans to improve the very bad state of traffic in Bangalore.

What is the CM’s
10 point programme?

The 10 point programme
is a 6 month rapid action plan to bring about visible improvement in
the traffic situation in Bangalore city. The ten point programme covers
a wide range of activities chosen for their immediate impact and to
be implemented in a co-ordinated manner by the concerned agencies.

Check out this page on Bangalore Traffic Police’s site. I went through the list. Lot of the points there will definitely help improve the traffic situation.

The big question though it whether this plan will be implemented or this will go away like the numerous promises the politicians usually make. I can already see action taken on few of the points in the list. I see that our road, Wind Tunnel Road, is finally getting drains to remove the storm water. Resurfacing of a few roads in Indranagar is done. Some of the footpaths in Airport Road have been restored.

But there are a lot of things on the list which I have not directly seen happen. Hopefully a major part of the list are implemented and the traffic situation improves.
