Well the year is almost over. I was thinking what I did this year. Hmmm, I
can not remember much… well the blog to the rescue. Lets see, I got a job in January
this year. That was after a nice two month vacation in between jobs where I visited US and
almost saw the Tsunami
live.

I started working on some cool
technology. I had to get glasses to see properly. I bought a new
bike, the
Pulsar 180, in March this year. In the same month I got a ADSL Internet
connection. I hate to call is “broadband” but if it is good enough to play
Halo
2 on Xbox Live it is good enough for me.

I registered a new
domain name www.vasanth.in in April. But
is was only recently that I set up redirects
from my old domain. Plus I added AdSense on this
blog in January.

In April I went on a short business trip to London. Funny, I
wanted to visit London when I was in Belgium. Some how I did not find the time
for three years!

Anyway this year Firefox finally became my default
browser. Check out the extensions

And oh yes I got a Tablet PC
this year.

Check out all the
posts I made this year. I made 403 posts this year. Wow
thats almost half of all the posts in this blog. Here is the month by month
split. Looks like August was a good month for blogging.

Looking at the statistics the blog had 59,79,352 hits this year,
thats almost 6 million hits. The blog a little over 5 million hits in 2004. Well
that is not a big gain from 2004. The hits per month chart shines some light on
this. If you see the blog picked up traffic for the first three months then
steadily lost it. I think this was because the new domain I added to this site.
I did not do the redirection at first. So that lost a lot of google juice. My
PageRank dropped from 7 to 5 and google sent a lot less traffic because of
this.

The AdSense chart for 2005 more or less follows the traffic
charts. I earned about 140 USD this year which is about 10 dollars less than my
target (cost of hosting this blog). Anyway hopefully next year this becomes a
six figure blog. Just kidding. I hope it meets the target 150 USD next
year.

My goals for this blog the next year? I want to post more
consistently and write more original content and commentary. I should reduce the
number of links posts and product announcements. Well, if you have read this
