GeckoTIP: Make Firefox play well with Tablet PC

I had blogged previously that Firefox does not work well with Tablet PC. There is a bug reported on this and an extension tpctip available to fix this. But the extension is buggy, not updated in a long time and does crashes Firefox often.

But now someone else (Sorry can not find the name in http://geckotip.mozdev.org/) has taken tpctip and fixed all the bugs and added some cool new features. It has got a new name too: GeckoTIP. This works with Firefox and Thunderbird. The Tablet PC’s TIP shows up properly when the focus is on the address bar or on text entry form fields.

The TIP is context aware. That is it shows buttons for www., .com, http:// when the field is an URL field or @, .com when it is an email field. There is also a manual override for this as shown above. Wow! This makes Firefox better than Internet Explorer for browsing using a Tablet PC.
