The Express Editions of Visual Studio are free for a year. These were said to cost about 50 USD. This is a nice move by Microsoft. IDE’s for Java like Eclipse and NetBeans are both free and open source. It is tough to compete with these with a product that costs 1000 USD. I guess thats why they made it free. I think they will end up keeping it that way.
Get the Express Editions here. Plus the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition will remain free for ever. I will be trying out these tonight. I will probably review them later. Anyway have fun coding.
