Yes, geeks like Firefox for its extensibility and the regular users Internet Explorer for its simplicity. :-)

Friends, the problem with such fonts is lack of support. Several computers fail to show such fonts. The internet explorer is more friendly with such fonts than the firefox.

Moreover the firefox is not as user friendly as the I.E.6 or Netscape.

pandian,

You might be right. But the blog I mentioned is in Unicode. This, I think, should be displayed properly even with out the Indic Support. That is why Internet Explorer shows it correctly. The other software you mention may not be Unicode compliant.

Hi Vasanth,
First of all you should have enabled Indic Support in your Win2000+ machines. Then only all softwares will be able render tamil and other indian languages properly. I think it is there in add or remove programs. check it. youi may need installation CD to copy those files.

Though Internet explorer renders it beautifully, other MS products like MSoffice etc wont work without enabling facility.

Dont blame Firefox.. It works really fine, (universal truth), it is better than IE (my experience).

Hello Vasanth

If your friend blog uses unicode tamil then firefox should show it fine as long as it does not use justify code in them and after you have installed the regional fonts.

check thamizmanam.com for more details.

hi,
Even i found this problem and tried to solve but in vain.Installing fonts and adding them to the about.config Tamil section did help but one cant keep doing it for all the websites coz every site has its own font.If you find a solution do let me know .

Regards,
Aravind.

cant read Tamil. so not sure what the problem is in pictures you posted. all looks same to me :)

but for true Unicode support, you should have language support for Tamil installed on your system.
if Windows, then you should find it in Control Panel->Regional language support.
