Google searches in Tamil…

05 Sep

I knew that Google.co.in had its interface in Tamil but I did not know it could search in Tamil. This is pretty cool. For those who don’t know Tamil, I am searching my name ‘Vasanth’ in Tamil.

To know more about Indian language features in Windows check out these videos (1 and 2) on channel nine.

Windows XP (and Windows 2000 I think) have builtin support for Indian languages like Tamil and Hindi. So you do not need any additional software. Just go to Regional Options in the control panel and add Tamil as a language. See this video (http://channel9.msdn.com/India/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=19472) the person demonstrates this. Plus also check out http://www.bhashaindia.com/downloads/downloads.aspx for a phonetic keyboard for Tamil. This will let you type in English and will phonetically convert it into Tamil.
